As part of the XIth PARMENIDES International Conference (June 17–19, 2025), focused on the theme “Feeding the Mediterranean,” CIHEAM Montpellier launched its very first artist-in-residence program, welcoming painter Mustapha TAABA, whose work blends abstraction, emotion, and social commitment.

In this exclusive video, Mustapha TAABA shares his journey, sources of inspiration, and his vision of art as a universal language that connects cultures, generations, and disciplines. He talks about his desire to work with high school students and young researchers, driven by a wish to foster genuine dialogue with youth, enrich his artistic approach through their perspectives, and spark collective reflection on Mediterranean challenges.

Working alongside students from the Lycée Frédéric Bazille and young researchers from CIHEAM Montpellier, he is creating a participatory work focusing on food issues in the Mediterranean. It's a wonderful encounter between artistic creation and scientific reflection.
